Our committees bring people together to learn, meet experts, and share ideas - a great place to start if you want to understand open government in New York.

OPEN MEETINGS LAW (OML) COMMITTEE

This committee focuses on OML in New York States

Discussion topics will include new and pending laws and recommendations are made to the board for the legislation that the New York Coalition for Open Government should support. The committee will discuss Open Meeting Law issues affecting residents within New York State and elsewhere. 

Meetings are enhanced by guest speakers invited to talk about their involvement with the open meetings law and roadblocks they have faced.

Members participate in Sunshine Week in Albany, meeting with lawmakers to encourage their support in passing OML related legislation.

This Committee meets every 3rd Thursday of the month at 6.30pm via Zoom.

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION LAW (FOIL) COMMITTEE

This committee focuses on FOIL in New York State.

Meetings are enhanced by guest speakers invited to talk about their involvement with FOIL and roadblocks they have faced.
