Our committees bring people together to learn, meet experts, and share ideas. A great place to start if you want to understand open government in New York.

Open Meetings Law (OML) Committee

MEETS EVERY 3RD THURSDAY · 6:30 PM · ZOOM

This committee focuses on the Open Meetings Law in New York State. Discussion topics include new and pending laws, and recommendations are made to the board for the legislation the coalition should support. The committee discusses Open Meetings Law issues affecting residents within New York State and elsewhere.

Meetings are enhanced by guest speakers invited to talk about their involvement with the Open Meetings Law and roadblocks they have faced. Members participate in Sunshine Week in Albany, meeting with lawmakers to encourage their support in passing OML-related legislation.

Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) Committee

MEETS EVERY 4TH THURSDAY · 6:30 PM · ZOOM

This committee focuses on FOIL in New York State. Discussion topics include new and pending laws, and recommendations are made to the board for the legislation the coalition should support. The committee discusses FOIL issues affecting residents within New York State and elsewhere.
