A FOIL request produced what Riverhead did not read out loud

Great use of the Freedom of Information Law by the reporters at Riverhead Local.

The fabricated accounting report at the center of the case is what got the town’s parks and recreation superintendent fired. The board voted 4-0 to accept the hearing officer’s findings, did not name him in the resolution, and did not release the findings at the meeting. RiverheadLOCAL got the seven-page determination under FOIL and published what it said.
