New York City is facing another lawsuit over its repeated refusal to release records about cancer-causing toxins that blanketed Ground Zero following the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.
The 9/11 toxin records are being sought by 9/11 Health Watch and families of people who got sick. The city’s Law Department says its searches “have not identified any records responsive” and that its records “are not maintained in a manner that allows it to search” for them. A filing system nobody can search is not an exemption under the Freedom of Information Law.
