Dear Coalition Members and Friends,

March flew by—and what a month it’s been!

In case you missed it, the third week of March marked Sunshine Week, a nationwide event that celebrates open and transparent government. Fourteen Coalition members traveled to Albany to promote the six bills of our 2025 legislative agenda with New York State lawmakers.

We had seven teams that, over the course of two days, collectively spoke with more than 75 legislators in the NYS Assembly and Senate. The event culminated in a press conference with some of our partner organizations and legislators – where we dazzled everyone with our sunshine-themed  yellow wardrobe and  balloons.

And guess what? Grassroots activism works!

Two of our bills passed the NYS Assembly while we were in Albany!

1. Report FOIL Activity – S452 (Hoylman-Sigal)

2. Limit Commercial FOIL Exemption – S5000 (Hoylman-Sigal) / A1410 (Rosenthal)

But above all—we had a boatload of fun, and we’ve got the pictures to prove it:

I couldn’t be prouder to be part of such a wonderful group of individuals!
