New public comment rules instituted for Saratoga Springs City Council meetings
SARATOGA SPRINGS — One of John Safford’s first decisions as mayor of Saratoga Springs was to institute new public comment rules at City Council meetings.
Meeting rules for a public body should be determined by a vote of all of the members and not imposed by one member. For some reason the members of the Saratoga Springs City Council believe the Mayor has sole authority to run meetings as he sees fit.

“The new rules do not need approval by other City Council members.
During that meeting, and in a follow-up comment, Finance Commissioner Minita Sanghvi said the mayor is allowed to decide how the meetings run.”
