Gavel damaged during argument at New Haven meeting
NEW HAVEN — Anyone who’s served as an elected official knows that listening to the public during hearings and comment periods is part of the job.
Imagine being so thin skinned and angry that public comments cause you to slam your gavel five times breaking it and shouting at a member of the public speaking at a public hearing.

That’s exactly what New Haven Town Supervisor Dan Barney did at a meeting. Just amazing that it was too much for him to hear criticism regarding transparency concerns. It was too much for him to do his job as an elected official and politely listen to someone’s concerns.
