In a time when trust in state and local government is under siege, public access to information is particularly vital.
This is an interesting article regarding issues occurring with Freedom of Information Laws across the country.
 
“At a time when 4 in 10 Americans say they don’t trust the government of the state in which they live to handle problems well, according to a mid-October Gallup poll, keeping public records from the public’s eye just makes matters worse. As governments grow more opaque, taxpayers are more likely to believe that they are hiding information from them—a notion that stands in the way of trust.”

Paul is the founder of the NY Coalition For Open Government and has truly loved seeing it become what it is today and is excited about its future growth.

As an attorney for 32 years, he is a partner in the law firm of Berzer & Wolf. Prior to his private law practice, Paul served in several government positions with the Buffalo Common Council, Buffalo Housing Authority, and Erie County.

When he is not practicing law and doing open government stuff, Paul enjoys spending time with his spouse, Cheryl, and his three children, Michael, Joseph, and Julia. Paul resides in Amherst, NY, a suburb of Buffalo.
